Are you a coffee lover looking for a new way to brew specialty coffee at home? Then the Aeropress might be the coffee maker for you. The Aeropress is designed to make delicious coffee quickly and easily, whether you like strong espresso-like shots or softer filter coffee.

At our home, but also at the campsite (because plastic = unbreakable = handy!), the Aeropress is often used to make light roast coffee. Light roast coffee has a more subtle taste than medium or dark roast coffee and is therefore loved by coffee lovers who want to taste the nuances of the coffee.

But the Aeropress isn't just for home use. The World Aeropress Championship is organized annually, a coffee competition in which participants from different countries compete for the title of best Aeropress coffee machine user. Contestants present their own techniques and recipes to a panel of judges, which is a great opportunity to discover new trends and techniques in coffee.

In this blog we take a closer look at using the Aeropress, including how you can make a delicious cup of coffee yourself. We also discuss the World Aeropress Championship and why this competition is so relevant to coffee lovers. So get ready to learn more about this versatile coffee maker and discover how you can enjoy the most delicious specialty coffee at home with the Aeropress.

What is an Aeropress?

The Aeropress is a popular coffee maker among coffee enthusiasts and is used to make specialty coffee. The device is designed to make a delicious cup of coffee quickly and easily. It consists of two parts: a cylinder and a piston with a rubber seal.

What is an Aeropress

Ideal for home use, the Aeropress can be used to brew a variety of coffees, from strong espresso-style shots to smoother filter coffee. This makes the device perfect for lovers of specialty coffee, where the taste and aroma of the coffee are central.

As mentioned, the Aeropress is often used at our home to make light roast coffee. Light roast coffee is coffee that has been roasted for a shorter time than medium or dark roast coffee and therefore has a lighter color and a more subtle taste. Of course you can use any coffee bean that you like. There are also fans of medium or dark roasts in an Aeropress, so that they can imitate an espresso-like sensation. To each his own of course!

Aeropress Championships

In addition to home use, the Aeropress is also used for competitions. The World Aeropress Championship is an annual coffee competition where participants from different countries compete for the title of best Aeropress coffee maker user. Contestants prepare their favorite coffee using their own Aeropress techniques and recipes and present it to a panel of judges.

The competition is not only an opportunity for Aeropress participants to showcase their skills, but also to discover the latest trends and techniques in coffee. This is especially relevant for specialty coffee enthusiasts, who are always looking for new ways to improve their coffee.
