Hario is a Japanese brand, but very popular worldwide! I can say that it really is one of the biggest names in the coffee world…
The Hario V60 owes the part 60 in its name to the 60-degree angle in the cone-shaped dripper.
The ribbed edges on the inside contribute to optimal extraction, because it causes a small rotating movement as the water sinks down through the V60 filter.
In short, a simple tool to make delicious filter coffee.
The Hario V60 Dripper exists in different variants. The most commonly used is plastic and is made of food-safe poly-carbonate and BPA-free.
Also not unimportant of course... With the 02 version you make 1 to 4 cups of coffee. The dripper is robust, durable and dishwasher safe! You will find the plastic version in our webshop.
Fortunately, you don't need much to make a nice cup of coffee with the Hario V60 and the purchase is super affordable. Partly for this reason, the Hario V60 is one of the most popular slow coffee methods at home.
There are many ways to make a cup of filter coffee with the Hario V60.
The water temperature, the degree of grinding of the coffee and the ratio of coffee and water are important.
Below we use our own Hario V60 recipe.
If the coffee gets bitter you could grind a little coarser and if it's a bit watery you can try a finer grind.
A finer grind results in a better extraction, but depending on the roast level of your coffee, the water may not go all the way through.
You can choose to ignore that and therefore throw away the remainder after 3 to 3.5 minutes and only drink the coffee that has passed through within that time.
